John Fiotakis is noted as a pragmatic innovator who has conceptualized and produced a number of innovative products and solutions for marine related industries. The Fiobuoy is a result of John’s forward-thinking following a fishing boat incident in 1985. His original idea was for a floating yoyo to combat the obstacle of surface marker buoys and he was surprised to find no-one had thought of it before. The Fiobuoy range is now well established being utilized mainly in Defence and Marine Research markets.
John has an extensive background in operating small businesses, and as a sales representative for a number of different businesses. With his previous sales experience he has been able to gain acceptance for the Fiomarine products globally.
For the past twenty years, John has also owned and managed a large and successful independent retail business in Hobart, Tasmania. John is the Treasurer for the Tasmanian Maritime Network, Vice President of the Tasmanian branch of the Australian Industry & Defence Network, a Director of the Tasmanian Independent Wholesalers and President of the Cretan Brother Hood of Tasmania.
